Kristina received her BA in metalsmithing from Humboldt State University in 1994. Inspired by botanical forms, she believes that the negative space plays an integral role in her designs, allowing the patterns to breathe. During a trip to Japan she learned the art of Kumihimo – the weaving of hand dyed silk thread on a loom to produce cording. She incorporates this technique into her pieces with vibrant colors that play off the sterling silver. Her studio is home-based, located amongst the giant redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. She lives there with her husband, daughter, two cats and a Chihuahua.
